Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ColloidNote ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

ColloidNote is a handwriting note-taking app for iPad with AI-powered completions. The App converts your prompts into handwritten responses rendered in a natural handwriting style. ColloidNote is provided by Aniruddha Deshpande ("we", "us", "our").

3. Account & Authentication

You must sign in with your Apple ID to use the App's AI features and make purchases. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. In-App Purchases

ColloidNote offers the following purchases:

• ColloidNote Pro: A one-time purchase that unlocks premium features and includes Note Completions.
• Note Completion Top-Ups: Consumable purchases that add additional Note Completions to your account.

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple in accordance with their refund policies.

Lifetime of the Product: References to "lifetime" access for ColloidNote Pro mean the lifetime of the product — that is, for as long as ColloidNote remains available and operational. This does not guarantee perpetual availability. We reserve the right to discontinue or substantially modify the App at any time, though we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of any significant changes.

5. Note Completions

Note Completions are AI-generated responses to your handwritten prompts. Please be aware:

• Completions are powered by third-party AI models (currently Google Gemini). Output quality, accuracy, and availability may vary.
• AI-generated content may contain errors. You should verify any important information independently.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the completion service. Downtime may occur due to maintenance, third-party service disruptions, or other factors.
• Each completion request consumes one completion from your balance, regardless of output length or quality.

6. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

ColloidNote Pro users may provide their own API key for AI completions. If you choose to use this feature:

• You are solely responsible for any costs incurred through your API key.
• Your API key is stored locally on your device and transmitted to our server only during completion requests. We do not store your API key on our servers.
• You must comply with the terms of service of your API key provider.

7. Your Content

Your handwritten notes and documents are stored locally on your device and in your iCloud Drive. You retain full ownership of all content you create with ColloidNote.

When you request an AI completion, images of your notes are temporarily sent to our server for processing and are not stored. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App or its server infrastructure.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's services, servers, or networks.
• Circumvent or manipulate the completion balance or entitlement system.
• Use automated tools to make bulk completion requests.

9. Intellectual Property

ColloidNote, its design, code, and associated branding are the intellectual property of Aniruddha Deshpande. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes in accordance with these terms.

10. Disclaimers

The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
• AI-generated completions will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.
• The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App's services if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the AI completion services will cease, but your locally stored notes and documents will remain on your device.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.
